The brand gnuhr, pronounced with a silent “g” similar to the word “gnosis”, derives its name from the Arabic word “nur”, which means “light”. The Arabic refers to luminosity, whereas the ambiguity in English can be taken for levity.

In 2023, Nur Abbas initiated a unique approach by applying the “ultralight mentality” to backpacking and everyday life, emphasizing purpose-based systems.
